Metal Dust

Metal Dust is a compactable dust that comes from road base. Its grading is ‘5 mm minus’ and often called crusher dust, cracker dust or quarry sand.

Metal Dust is used to create a solid base, stabilising surfaces, particularly under concrete slabs, water tanks and artificial turf. It’s an economical product that can also be used as a sand for laying pavers and concrete products.

Scalpings

Scalpings is an unspecified compactible dust combined with minus 20mm Blue Metal. It is similar to 20mm Roadbase in terms of creating a solid base however it is coarser in texture with the larger size metal down to dust in particle sizes.

20mm Roadbase (DGB-20)

DGB (Densely Graded Base) is compliant with RMS specification 3051 and suitable for use a road base material under concrete, driveways and council roadways.

It is sized at ‘20 mm minus’, which means it ranges from a 20 mm metal down to dust in particle sizes. 20mm Roadbase (DGB-20) will compact the hardest out of Metal Dust and Scalpings.

Concrete Mix

Concrete Mix is also known as sand and gravel mix or core fill mix. It is a blend of 10mm blue metal and washed concreting sand that can be mixed with cement to make concrete and core fill for retaining wall blocks.

To make 1 cubic metre of concrete you need to mix 2 tonnes of Concrete Mix with 16 x 20kg bags of cement.

5mm Blue Metal

5mm blue metal is sized at ‘5-7mm’, which is also known as pea sized gravel. It is a natural aggregate that is commonly used for drainage in many different fields.

Its many uses include backfilling trenches, around PVC and Ag-Pipe, drainage behind retaining walls and for screeding under fibreglass pools.

10mm Blue Metal

The aggregate is crushed and screened at the quarry to a consistent size, making it ideal for various uses.

This aggregate can be used for drainage for sewer piping, paths, driveways, concreting, drainage pits, drainage filler in pot plants or drainage for stand-alone garden beds.

20mm Blue Metal

20mm Blue Metal is commonly used for drainage and backfilling trenches, around PVC and Ag-Pipe, for drainage behind retaining walls and even as a base for concrete and deep garden beds to promote drainage.

20mm Blue Metal can also be used for mixing concrete due to its high compressive strength and can also be a cheaper alternative as a decorative dressing for footpaths and driveways.

-40mm Blue Metal

-40mm Metal is a natural aggregate sized at ‘40mm minus’ that is commonly used for drainage in many different fields.

Its many uses include backfilling trenches or for drainage behind retaining walls.

– 63mm Blue Metal (Railway Ballast)

-63mm basalt or railway ballast is sized at ‘63mm minus’.

It can be used as a railway ballast, drainage material or for small gabion baskets.

75-150mm Blue Metal Gabion Stone

75-150mm Blue Metal is also known as gabion spalls. They are a light grey to dark grey in colour and provides a contemporary look and can be used as large single stones in gardens/edging pieces or in in gabion cages.

10 – 20mm Recycled Concrete

10-20mm Recycled Concrete is comprised of deposits of brick, rock, tiles and demolition concrete that are crushed and screened to a nominal size of 10-20mm.

It is commonly used for backfilling trenches, around PVC and Ag-Pipe and for drainage behind retaining walls.

50-80mm Recycled Concrete

Recycled Concrete in the 50 mm – 80 mm size is generally used as driveway access to building sites and as backfill material to retaining wall.

Please note that it can often contains bits of steel, nails and other building materials.
